The Weihnachtsmarkt is open!

21 11 2011

As of this morning at 11:00, the Christmas markets have officially opened! I just did a quick walk-through on the way to another store, but not before I stopped and snapped a few pictures of the booths. They’re exactly the same as last year (probably even the same booth layout and everything) but it’s all still so exciting!

I plan on going there this afternoon for some Schmalzkuchen (a type of deep-fried pastry with powdered sugar on top). Glühwein (mulled wine!) will have to wait until tomorrow, though, since I have evening classes tonight. Let’s try and stay professional, here!

In the coming weeks, I am looking forward to checking out the other ones in the city, especially the big one in front of the Rathaus at Jungfernstieg!

Let the Christmas season begin!

I will miss the lovely German Christmas markets this year. It will be the first time in four years that we won’t be celebrating the season there as we visited Germany in October. Enjoy.
